Assessment

Comprehensive AOD assessment:

The function of an alcohol and other drug assessment (AOD) comprehensive assessment is to provide further detail on the broader context of AOD use and to inform treatment planning.

An AOD comprehensive assessment is used to determine the level and type of treatment and support required by presenting clients. Those conducting the assessment of each individual will utilize structured professional judgement in addition to a range of psychometric testing and information from family members and/or carers; in order to formulate a comprehensive treatment plan. A comprehensive assessment ensures that a client’s comprehensive treatment needs are adequately understood so that they can access the help most suitable for their needs. It embeds mental health, suicide risk and family violence as critical co-psychosocial factors.

If the client is successful in being granted bail, the initial assessment at Court Report Central will examine all their areas of need and their areas of strength. Accordingly, if bail is granted, the client will have a comprehensive assessment which will include substance abuse, alcohol abuse, gambling problems, anger management, mental health, housing etc.

This will also include psychometric testing as a baseline measure for substance abuse and mental health functioning and will extend over more than one session. Following this, a treatment plan will be formulated to meet the individual’s needs. Individuals already on bail can undertake a comprehensive assessment.

Bail Reports

Our clinic provides professional reports to assist individuals seeking bail. These reports are prepared with care to ensure the court has relevant, evidence-based information.

We currently offer two types of reports:

$2,200

Comprehensive Bail Report

This option provides a detailed assessment tailored to the client’s circumstances. It includes:
  • A full clinical assessment of the client.
  • An interview conducted via AVL (Audio-Visual Link) or in person.
  • A comprehensive written report addressing the client’s background, current circumstances, and treatment recommendations to support the bail application.

$440

Pro Forma Treatment Report

This report is prepared without interviewing the client. Instead, it is based on existing
documentation, which may include:
  • Court attendance notice.
  • Police fact sheets.
  • The client’s criminal history.

This option provides a shorter, treatment-focused report at a lower cost.

Please Note: This service is available in limited capacity, as pro forma reports are generally less effective in supporting bail applications compared to comprehensive assessments.

Sentencing Reports

We also provide sentencing reports to assist the court in understanding the client’s background, mental health, and treatment needs. These reports involve a comprehensive clinical assessment and include psychometric testing.

Sentencing Reports

The report is informed by a review of relevant documentation, including:
  • Police fact sheets
  • The client’s criminal record
  • The client’s medical and/or treatment records

Fees: The cost of a sentencing report depends on the type of offence and the court jurisdiction (Local or District Court).
